Experience
Emily Angel Shaw currently serves as Director of Family Law Services at Kids’ Voice of Indiana, where she advocates for the best interests of children in family law and child welfare cases and develops training for advocates across the state.
Emily has been with Kids’ Voice since 2015 and previously served as Executive Director of the organization’s GAL/CASA Program, giving her deep experience working with families and courts across Indiana.
In addition to her nonprofit work, Emily has operated her own private law practice since 2014, primarily handling family law matters, with additional experience in probate, criminal, and business-related cases, including in Hamilton County.
Earlier in her career, Emily worked as a staff attorney with Indiana Legal Services, representing individuals and families who otherwise would not have had access to legal help.
Emily earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law and later completed a Master of Laws in Children’s Rights and Family Law from University College Cork in Ireland.
Family and community
Emily lives in Carmel with her husband, Harrison, a union electrician, and their three children. Her oldest son is a multi-sport athlete, and the family often spends weekends at local soccer fields and hockey rinks.
Outside of work, the Shaw family enjoys traveling together and spending time at local parks, museums, and coffee shops throughout the community.
Emily also serves on the Board of Women Build for Greater Indiana Habitat for Humanity and is on the organizing committee for the Arsenal 5K Run/Walk, which benefits students at her alma mater, Arsenal Technical High School.
